"There was a mighty rain
upon the roof.
It blew in from the north
with swirling winds.
I closed the windows, paused my
search for truth.
And drifted on an ocean
of pretend.
Cravings from a place
misunderstood
Enveloped me, coursed through my
veins until
Some wisdom reached me
which was strong and good
Enough to make the cravings
all stand still.
In that stillness, I sat
down awhile.
Rain ceased, I rose and
opened windows wide.
I felt as though I'd
overcome some trial -
without fully knowing
how or why.
